The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Work on a summer day in the village" is a vibrant and soulful depiction of rural life, filled with warmth, energy, and a sense of timeless simplicity. The scene presents a traditional village bathed in the radiant glow of a sunny summer day, where the routine of daily labor intertwines seamlessly with the natural beauty of the countryside. Every detail of the painting reflects a deep affection for pastoral life, offering a visual narrative that celebrates both the dignity of human effort and the quiet charm of rustic surroundings. In the foreground, a narrow earthen path, painted with dynamic strokes of warm terracotta and ochre, winds its way through tall grasses sprinkled with delicate white wildflowers. This path draws the viewer into the heart of the village, setting the stage for the unfolding activity. Along the path, two figures carry heavy loads of wood, their postures bent slightly under the weight, yet their synchronized steps suggest teamwork and resilience. Their dark clothing stands in contrast to the lush greens of the grass, emphasizing their physical presence and the labor they contribute to the community. To the left, a pile of freshly cut logs is scattered in natural disarray, a testament to the industriousness of village life. The rough, textured brushstrokes used for the wood capture its tactile quality and further highlight the manual labor essential for rural existence. Behind the logs, weathered wooden huts with slanted roofs rise from the landscape, their earthy tones harmonizing with the natural environment. The texture of the brushwork mimics the grain of the wood, giving the impression of structures built by hand and time, carrying with them the weight of tradition and endurance. At the center of the composition, a larger house with a moss-green thatched roof stands proudly, basking in the sunlight. The roof, rendered in layered shades of yellow-green, seems almost alive, as though nature itself has merged with human habitation. This blending of architecture and environment embodies the interconnectedness of rural life with the land it depends upon. Nearby, a woman dressed in white tends to a flock of geese, her presence evoking the nurturing, domestic side of village routines. The geese, painted in light, fleeting strokes, add movement and charm, softening the laborious atmosphere with a touch of pastoral innocence.
