The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Girls sailing in a boat" is a lyrical and colorful depiction of summer simplicity, where the harmony between human figures, water, and surrounding nature creates a vivid sense of presence. The canvas opens with a close focus on a small boat resting by the riverbank, its hull painted in soft shades of pale green and red that contrast gently with the darker tones of the water. Standing inside and beside this boat are two girls, captured in natural, unposed gestures that speak to both youth and freedom. One stands firmly in the boat, her posture tall and graceful, adjusting her hair as though preparing for the journey or enjoying the feel of the breeze. The other, on the bank, faces the water while making a similar gesture, her figure anchored yet equally immersed in the rhythm of the moment. Their simple, light garments echo the atmosphere of leisure and intimacy with nature, suggesting not just activity, but connection and contemplation. The water, painted with wide, confident strokes of deep greens, browns, and shimmering reflections, dominates the lower half of the composition. On its surface, brilliant streaks of pinks, purples, blues, and gold ripple across, creating an impressionistic play of light that suggests both clarity and depth. These colorful reflections do not merely mirror reality; they elevate it, giving the scene a dreamlike, poetic quality. At the same time, the darker tones of the river suggest stillness and mystery, as if concealing untold stories beneath its surface. The boat floats on this duality, embodying the fragile yet confident balance of human life against nature's immensity. The middle ground introduces the rustic charm of a riverside village. A wooden structure with a slanted roof, painted in earthy browns and muted purples, anchors the left side of the painting, suggesting a mill, barn, or fisherman's hut. Further up the green slope stand additional houses with thatched and tiled roofs, rendered in light whites, blues, and grays. These cottages, nestled in greenery, add depth and a sense of permanence to the scene, grounding the fleeting play of the figures in a backdrop of timeless rural existence. The hills are painted with thick strokes of ochre, green, and warm yellow, suggesting the vibrancy of summer and the fertility of the land.
