Description
Painting by contemporary artist Joachim van der Vlugt. This oil on wood is an abstract composition that could evoke a landscape painting.
Situated between abstraction and figuration, Joachim Van der Vlugt's works are composed around the manipulation of light. While the painted motifs allow the viewer to identify a dreamlike place, the interplay of light structures the work and evokes a captivating feeling by creating an atmosphere of reality. The geometric forms that overlap in the center of the painting, like so many clues to an altered reality, embody this tacit agreement of pictorial illusion that the painter maintains with his viewers. Joachim van der Vlugt's work is definitively inspired by the great classical Dutch masters. Using a deliberately limited and somber palette of black and white, brown, beige, and blue, the artist works the paint by layering it.
"For me, painting has a lot to do with introspection and is a very intimate form of expression, but it is not isolated. On the contrary, art is the most direct and intense form of communication."
This artwork is signed and sold unframed.
