Description
Dialogue with Andy Warhol
In this triptych, I offer my perspective as a representative of my generation on the consumerist society we live in. My stance is a form of resistance against the homogenization of people and the trends that dictate the necessity of owning material possessions to belong to specific communities.
The concept is realized in the triptych “Dialogue with Andy", consisting of three works: “Just do nothing", “Hell: the choice of my generation", and “And 15 min. Glory for andy", each measuring 98 x 220 cm. In two of the works, I choose objects that are “important" for the identification of my generation, while in the third, I incorporate the image of Andy Warhol. I also use text-paraphrased advertising slogans and a famous quote from Warhol.
Andy Warhol was the first to use advertising techniques (such as screen printing) to create artworks. He also introduced a compositional approach previously seen only in decorative art-endless repetition of banal everyday objects or celebrities, both political and from show business. Through this, he demonstrated a core idea of contemporary art: its focus not on eternal themes but on the ephemeral, the temporary, and the fragile, which are inherently tied to life itself. For my work, I choose an object that I multiply in an infinite composition, using techniques typically employed in the creation of hand-patterned textiles.
