Description

For France, the artwork will be delivered mounted on a wooden stretcher and ready to hang. The sides of the canvas are carefully painted white, allowing for a contemporary and streamlined display without a frame.

Auvergne Landscape, France.
Beyond the cold and the silence of high altitudes, the true protagonist of this work is the light. A winter light, at once raw and softened by evening, transforming the summit into a majestic stage.
The low-angled glow of the sun carves a path beneath the clouds, igniting them with shades of pink and peach. This unexpected caress radiates across the frozen mantle. The snow is no longer white; it is an earthly mirror, a sensitive surface where the sky paints its own chromatic variations, echoing its warmth.
Amidst this immensity, the rocks and fir trees serve as counterpoints. Through their solid presence, these silent witnesses catch the sun’s final ochre sparks on their flanks, while their bases already plunge into the bitter cold of the coming night. Their dark green and ochre—the only truly earthly colors—anchor this grand choreography of light upon the very real skin of the mountain.

Presentation

Anne Baudequin is a landscape painter. Her work, inspired by observing nature outdoors, follows in the tradition of 19th-century French landscape painters. She loves the poetry of simple subjects: the paths of her village, the bank of a river, a cloud above the mountains. Painting in oils, "alla prima," she captures the fleeting effects of light with lively, spontaneous brushstrokes that lend her canvases a sense of movement.

Landscape has always been an object of contemplation for her, an open parenthesis outside of everyday life. From her first paintings at the age of 15, she naturally drew her inspiration from it. A graduate of the École nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art in Paris, her studies enriched her with other practices in the visual arts, while definitively anchoring her passion for painting from life.

Having lived in the Auvergne region for thirty years, she contemplates the Loire gorges and the magnificent volcanic landscape from her studio. Her brushes tirelessly explore it, like a walk renewed by the light and the seasons. Her travels, particularly to the inexhaustible horizons of the sea, allow her to explore new ways of seeing light.

Her work humbly pays homage to the beauty of the world. Convinced that one can be touched by the sublime in the most familiar environment, she strives to transcribe its subtle nuances.
