Description
The mask represents the identity we present to the world while our true self remains unfinished beneath it, hidden, protected, and constantly evolving.
This mask reflects the conflict between appearance and reality, the forced smile becoming a shield for pain, anger, and unspoken trauma. The crossed black markings resemble spiritual seals, symbolizing restriction, suppression, and the weight of inherited struggles carried through generations. Inspired by ancestral masks once used for protection and ritual, the piece explores how our ancestors often hid suffering behind strength to survive. (2026)
