Poppies. Silhouettes, 2022

Olha Bartysh

My poppies are about fertility and the abundance of life. About motherhood, birth, and the strength that passes from one life to another.

Against a turquoise background, black poppy silhouettes evoke the presence of life, while red lines run through them like its invisible pulse. Each line speaks of movement, connection, and continuity. Each tiny seed holds the possibility of a new beginning.

I am fascinated by this extraordinary power: to be so small and yet contain an entire world. To keep growing again and again, as long as there is sunlight, earth, and room for life.

These poppies are about you and me. About our roots, our vitality, and our ability to become part of something greater than ourselves.
