Hikari (?), 2026

Viktoriia Kolesnykova

In times when the world feels overwhelmingly harsh, hope rarely arrives in familiar forms. It finds us in the most unexpected images, emerging from the darkness precisely when we need it most.
Emerging from dense, deep greenery, the striking silhouettes of a pelican and a flamingo come into focus. At first glance delicate and extraordinary, they carry a hidden, unwavering strength. There is something quietly defiant about their presence — a reminder that appearances can be deceiving, that tenderness and strength are not opposites, and that even in the darkest circumstances, the future remains unwritten.
Inspired by resilience and the determination to shape one's own destiny, Hikari (光 — Japanese for “light” or “radiance”) reflects on the courage to believe in a future defined not by fear, but by freedom and self-determination.
Sometimes, the very thing that brings back the light arrives on wings we never expected.
