Description
A rocky arch tears the sky a deep blue. The material imposes itself. The painter works the paint generously. He superimposes the layers to render the density of the stone. Earthy tones and ochre dominate the composition.
The gaze traverses the natural opening. One discovers a serene sea horizon. The palette suddenly lightens. The yellow of the sand and the blue of the water create a sharp contrast with the dark mass of the foreground.
The brushstroke is frank. It emphasizes the roughness of the coastal landscape while maintaining a great luminous softness. The light seems to come from above, illuminating the top of the cliff.
The balance is played between full and empty. The mineral structure frames the distance like an open window onto nature. The shades of brown and gray reveal the rough textures of the granite. The final rendering favors the tactile sensation of the rock against the immensity of the coastline.

Presentation
A contemporary painter born in 1962 in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, André Boubounelle paints landscapes in the classical manner, at a time when practices often put aside the pictorial and the figurative. Whether luminous or misty, his landscapes are never animated and exude a delicate poetry, a harmonious melancholy. This gives a rare emotional intensity to his paintings: as if in immersion, we walk through familiar landscapes of Burgundy, Ile de France, the sunny countryside under the snow, the Vexin, northern Brittany through Tuscany.
Graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1983. Prize from the Casa de Velázquez, Institut de France, resident from 1991 to 1993. Prize of the Wildenstein Foundation in 1993,
The departmental domain of the Vallée-aux-Loup, La Maison de Chateaubriand in Chatenay-Malabry devoted an important exhibition to him in 2019, under the aegis of Marc Fumaroli (1932-2020), of the Académie Française.
Pont-l'Evêque, Espace Culturel Les Dominicaines, devoted an important exhibition to him "Le Voyage Immobile" from 19 March to 8 May 2022
