Frost Falls 02, 2026

Tanya Sviatlichnaya

"Frost Falls 02" (2026) is an artwork from Tanya Sviatlichnaya’s year-long personal series “Shades of the Year”. Conceptually, the artwork explores the 52rd Japanese micro-season, Shimo hajimete furu ("First Frost Falls," late October). Sviatlichnaya translates the slow, attentive observation of natural cycles into fluid, organic color fields. Deep indigo washes descend like an icy winter sky over warm terracotta tones, while crystalline, frosty-blue gradients capture the exact moment when the first frost touches the autumn soil. Rooted in the philosophy of mindfulness and impermanence, "Frost Falls 02" turns a subtle seasonal shift into an immersive visual meditation.
