Description
Unique print from an analog photograph of Bze
Printer _ proof 1/1 of 2007 on high quality Glossy photo paper
This print is from the book "OVERGROUND, déroutants voyageurs", 2006, Bze & Tomski, Paris, Editions Alternatives.
"Photos of the road, the street, the margin and its people"
This shot captures a raw moment of daily life. A young man stands in the center of an open space, surrounded by precarious structures. He manipulates colored circles that float in front of him. These geometric shapes bring a graphic and modern touch to a stripped-down setting.
The image relies on a sociological gaze. It documents the margins and counter-cultures with precision. The composition contrasts the roughness of the earthy ground with the vibrancy of the yellow and red rings. The photographic treatment conveys the authenticity of an urban scene.
The artist intervenes here by adding ink to the paper, merging photography and drawing. This hybrid work dialogues with the aesthetic of the street and graffiti. The diffused light highlights the textures of the clothes and the dilapidated walls in the background. This high-definition print was made in 2007.
Presentation
Bze has been tagging since he was 12. He writes on his school table, his clothes, the walls and public transport in his environment.
In parallel with university studies in photography and cinema, Bze explored the underground corners of Europe with his film camera, hunting for the aesthetics of the road, the street, the margins and its people. Since 1999, through exhibitions and slideshows between Granada and Rotterdam, he has shared his thousands of slides. In 2006, Bze finalized his photographic journey with a book called Overground, confusing travelers published by Éditions Alternatives. A unique, almost sociological look, revealed by a selection of more than 600 photographs of the counterculture with its communities, demonstrations, squats, free parties...
Following his meeting with the artist Nef, they created the Nef&bze© graphic studio (focused on electronic music).
Returning to his roots, the aesthetics of the letter, Bze devotes himself in the studio to painting on canvas or paper. His contemporary calligraphy, Neo-writer, tends towards minimal abstractionism.
An artistic journey marked by diversity and authenticity, a thirst to share.
