"Photos of the road, the street, the fringe and its people"

This hybrid composition mixes photography and graphic interventions. The eye is first drawn to shots captured during the Dragon Festival in 2005. The image documents nomadic life and the fringes of society. Candid portraits and scenes of daily life within alternative communities are observed.
The technical work combines high-definition printing with the use of ink on paper. These manual additions create a dialogue between the photographic instant and the calligraphic gesture. The montage structures the space in several temporal and visual registers.
The approach is almost sociological. It explores the aesthetics of the road and the codes of counter-culture. The marked contrasts highlight the raw reality of squats and political gatherings. The whole forms a visual narrative on freedom and wandering.
This artistic proposal dated 2007 is part of a research approach on urban identity. The final rendering favors documentary precision enriched by touches of abstraction. The layout alternates between zones of text and saturated images.
