Description
The work is part of a cycle of 7 unique pieces made with the linoleum technique and printed on geographical paper. The work represents black silhouettes emerging from the geographical places of greatest concentration of oil pollution (black colour). It is published in the catalog of the exhibition "worldview: anthropology of an eco-vision".
This artwork blends cartography with silhouetted figures to generate a powerful narrative of migration and hope. A family, depicted in stark black silhouettes, traverses a textured map, loaded with intricate topographical details. Their journey, encapsulated in a moment, suggests movement through unknown terrains, embodying determination. The presence of a white silhouetted figure on the left offers a stark contrast, symbolizing guidance or perhaps an enigmatic destination. Dark, sweeping strokes above add dynamic tension, evoking a sense of urgency or looming challenges. The layered composition, merging a realistic map with stylized human forms, uniquely captures the universal quest for a better life. This complex interplay of elements invites reflection on notions of displacement, community, and resilience, making it both a visually and thematically compelling work.
