Agustí Puig

Agustí Puig started painting in his early youth, and later began to explore graphic design and poster-making. This strongly influenced the artist's return to a more calligraphic painting style. In 1985 Puig received the fourth-place Mention in the XXIV International Joan Miró Drawing Award, from the Miró Foundation in Barcelona.

During a period in New York in 1992, Puig redesigned his visual priorities, creating a more material work where gesture and density became his main creative priorities. His work, evoking primitive origins, expresses a quick and vigorous gestuality where the palette is charged with earth tones. Pedestrian nomads speak to us of the impermanence of life in an energetically optimistic way.

The work of Agustí Puig has been exhibited in numerous institutionsand features in public and private collections, including the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid, the Col·lecció Testimoni de la Fundació 'la Caixa', Balearic Islands, and the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Tarragona, Tarragona, Spain.
