Presentation
Tiemar Tegene was born in 1985 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Graduated from Fine Arts in engraving, and from the AAU Alle design university, she mainly uses engraving today.
Combining traditional engraving and contemporary experiments, Tiemar Tegene uses on his prints the use of household objects, the addition of colored pencils, ink, or even repetitive patterns. The people who appear in his works are nameless; they are tributes to the "disappeared", to the "rejected", to those who are considered collateral damage, to those deprived of their rights. These are also figures, victims, statistics.
His work has been exhibited at the National Museum of Ethiopia, the Alliance Ethio-Française, the Circle Art Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art Gebre Kristos Desta Center and the National Museum of Art of Lithuania.
