Works of Julie De Bleeckere can not be classified in a single direction or name. His work is made up of many ramifications, which never depart from a recurring theme.
The lack of connections, interactions, human communication, loneliness as well as the ironic duality between protection and aggression: the artist transports us through his works swept away by his own reflections on time and memory.
Over the years, the artist has built a personal writing. Successive layers of painting and pastel applied to photographs give way to a feeling of strange concern.
His images, which plunge us into a world that is at once scary and curious, arouse a keen interest in the way they are produced. The effacement of the faces brings us back to a collective imagination of the mystery, between the influence of the spiritist photography and the cinema.
