Presentation

The photographer manipulates the pixels to create her work, in her words: "They each contain some essential truth." She devotes herself to recurrent themes like false symmetry, surreal impressions of reality but now visible, a feeling of twisted mirrors, like two faces which show both the past and the future.

The foundation of her art deals with the reflections of water, their symbolic fertility, femininity, fluidity, which she beautifully named "MIDMVV": le Monde Imaginaire De Ma Vraie Vie( the Imaginary World Of My True Life). The names of these images are deliberately poetic: "Il pleut des lunes", "En fin"... Mireille Roobaert transforms reality which in turn has transformed her.

She belongs to the silver generation, but Photo shop is her tool. Even before digital times, she used to experiment with photos in the dark room, mixing shapes and materials. Today, thanks to the software, the artist can go much further. She manages to include a wealth of information in just one pixel.

There are hidden messages in her pixels, just like in each atom of life. The computer offers her an infinite potential, she sculpts the image and creates the message. Each empty space inspires her as she fills them with meaning, graphics and colors, therefore questioning the empty.
