Biography

Richard Zielenkiewicz, aka Monsieur Z is a French illustrator and graphic artist, born in 1951. He studied at Ecole Estienne, École Supérieure des Arts et Industries Graphiques in Paris. Following this, he obtained his masters degree in image synthesis. He then became artistic director in advertising and worked in the press at Monsieur et Wallpaper. He has been living in Hyeres since 2006. He works for himself now, Monsieur Z creates contemporary illustrations, which look a lot like the posters from the 30's till 70's.

He draws inspiration from architecture, design and the trends of these time periods, leading to colorful and refined illustrations, a true invitation to travel. Among them, an entire series was created exclusively for LISA Gallery.

Monsieur Z works for animated TV sitcoms, he also participated in creating advertisements for TV, magazines, in France and other countries for L'Oréal, Air France, BMW... Moreover, he created the new mascot design for the Warner Music Group, the cover of Death By Chocolate album by De Phazz and the credits of the movie « Mensonges et trahisons - et plus si affinités » by Laurent Tirard.
