Acerbo-ludo-pop! Here is a neologism which would attempt to define the artistic practice of Christophe Baur alias Jean-Pierre Formidouble. The common thread throughout his work, acerbic humor plays with the primary meanings that a non-attentive audience would suggest by the innocuous and harmless appearance of these sharp images, these flashing colors. The diversion, the derision, the organized confusion of meanings are the main vectors of his artistic approach, which began more than 30 years ago. Christophe enjoys our daily life, our rituals, but above all and above all himself. Rare artistic approach and not without risk vis-à-vis contemporary art where seriously pompous convoluted concepts reign supreme.
