Presentation

Born in Tours (France) in 1971, Julie has been a painter since a very young age. After studying architecture and interior design, she devoted herself fully to painting for 20 years. Through her painting, Julie expresses and hopes to share how she feels beautiful, brave or warm in the other. A subject she loves is the serene and joyful atmosphere that women can create around them. Her work represents scenes of life whose characters and their animals interact in very colorful compositions.

The animal world and Spanish folklore with its powerful symbolism are also a source of inspiration for Julie's current work, the "Yin and Yang" collections. She explores the universal themes of femininity and the quest for harmony and happiness. Each work is a piece of the puzzle that includes original scenes where men and women mingle with their totem animals, the bull expressing strength and maturity on a way of life, the dog or horse representing the softer facets and more fragile women. Julie Buffet uses a variety of media and techniques, combining oil painting with sometimes paper, which allows the spectrum of contrasts and textures to be extended. Reconciling family and work, Julie deploys her creative energy in her shell-shaped workshop that she built at home: the Saint Georges workshop. For several years, Julie gives life to some characters directly inspired by her paintings by creating ceramic sculptures.

Over the last 10 years, Julie's work has been exhibited in France at the "Arts Atlantiques" show (2009, 2011 and 2013), as well as at the "Flying fish" gallery on the island of Oléron (end of 2016). ). She was also invited to participate in an exhibition at Ars-en-Ré in May 2018 (Ile de Ré, Atlantic Coast, France). This year in January, Julie Buffet received an award of excellence for her painting "The dreamer at the cat" at an art competition organized by the "Asia Society" of Hong Kong, in honor of the painter
Chinese Pan Yu-Lin, an ambassador for the fusion of Oriental and Western arts and participated in the Art3f exhibition in Nantes in the spring.
