Biography

Born in 1953 in Saint Etienne Yves Bonnier has been interested in drawing since his childhood. Quite naturally he goes to color: pastel, oil then acrylic. Originally he is a figurative painter but he is inspired by it more than he claims. It's natural, in the continuity of an honest, honest practice. It digs a furrow of its own.

His teachers Marie Dessaules and Gilbert Pauli made him discover the imaginary while remaining in a certain vision of the figurative.

Large spatulas extend the pigments into spots of color which will later become a landscape or a character according to its inspiration. Between figuration and abstraction and at the confluence of land, sky and water, his paintings paint broad strokes of our surrounding landscapes. His characters are treated in a very similar style.

Its main exhibitions are:

Tox & Co. Geneva Gallery in 2013

GenevArtspace Geneva in 2014 and 2015

Notre Dame Dijon Gallery in 2017

Céu Terra Gallery Lisbon in 2017

Allarts Gallery Lisbon since 2018
