Armand Scholtès was born in 1935 in the Lorraine, he has been living and working in Nice since 1986.
His works are part of about twenty public collections (museums, FRAC, etc.). Armand Scholtès is an artist of the 21st century, but his singular modernity combines primitive art, naive art and arte povera. Scholtès is a multifaceted artist, and his work is characterized by great richness and consistency.
His works are “tentures-espaces”, vast sheets deployed in red and white stripes, colorful seas and beaches, primitive tattoos or ritual make-up, residues of the substance of time, always in the present and promising the future, skeletons of cultures and milestones of civilization.
