José Armando

Portugal • 1994

Biography

Early since his childhood, he revealed great passion for art and the stories it conveys. He started drawing at the age of 9, showing great imagination and creative ability, and found, both in his family and through his education, the support and the incentive he needed to continue exploring his artist facet.

His early experiences as an artist were made with acrylic paint, but the desire to experiment new techniques led him to discover the oil paint, which he still uses.

Inspired by Impressionist artists such as Monet, Degas, Matisse or Renoir and the famous Portuguese painter Paula Rego, Armando - as the artist signs his paintings - considers art unrepeatable and, therefore, all his projects focus on the surrounding reality, portraying the main worldly themes of contemporary society.

From bohemian life to the innocence of children, each one of his works tells a story, reproduces his vision of reality or portrays feelings and his own sensitivity to the life that surrounds him.
