Biography
Known worldwide for her interdisciplinary style and bold renderings of diverse natural materials, Zhanna Kadyrova is a Ukrainian artist, born in 1981 near Kyiv. After graduating from the Taras Shevchenko State Art School in 1999, she received the Kazimir Malevich Artist Award and the Grand Prix of the Kyiv Sculpture Project. Across the artist’s practice, she tackles questions relating to modern history and urbanism, Soviet socialism, and personal heritage.
Kadyrova’s work continues to be showcased in exhibitions across the globe. Her most notable projects include the 55th Venice Biennale at the Ukrainian Pavilion, the Bangkok Biennale, and Shanghai Jing’an International Sculpture Project (JISP) in Shanghai.
