
Biography
Born in 1972, Delita Martin is an American artist. Martin received her MFA in printmaking in 2009 from Purdue University.
Initially exposed to art through her father’s work as a painter and carpenter, Martin’s inclination to art was evident from a young age. Her work is characterized by her unique approach of combining printmaking, sewing, drawing and collage. She skilfully weaves together elements of African and African-American culture, identity and history, crafting intricate narratives that celebrate and honor the Black experience.
Martin’s work has been showcased in renowned institutions such as the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Crystal Bridges Museum of Modern Art, and the Studio Museum in Harlem. Aside from being an active artist, Martin worked as a lecturer at the University of Arkansas.
