Biography
Gregory Hayes is based in Brooklyn, New York. Hayes began his art studies at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design alongside artist Clark Richert of Drop City. There he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and was named Most Outstanding Artist. He obtained his Master of Fine Arts in painting from Brooklyn College in New York where he studied alongside Vito Acconci.
"Through my work I explore how paint can be used with different tools and techniques to renew the meaning of mixing colors and presenting patterns. Any medium is good, from mathematically inspired grids on canvas to organically positioned works on paper. My aim is to sharpen the viewer's sensitivity to subtle variations and to show that one can achieve a certain graphic complexity from a restricted vocabulary. "
