Biography
Elizabeth Becker is an American artist living and working in Pennsylvania. She studied fine art at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, University of the Arts, and Millersville University, from where she received degrees in psychology and art education.
In 2012 Elizabeth began painting primarily in watercolour, a 'living' medium whose spontaneity and immediacy taught her to let go, become present in the moment and accept imperfections. Working loosely and expressively, she allows paint to have a life of its own as colors slowly blend and blossom through her watercolor designs. Thanks to this technique his paintings seem alive; the leaves quiver in the wind, the more and more beautiful flowers bloom, and the birds twirl around, happy.
Her work is an exploration of the human condition, emotion, spirituality and nature. Inspired by the interplay between the inner and outer realms of her subjects, her paintings tend to blur the lines between representation and abstraction. She believes that using abstraction brings us closer to reality, not just how it looks.
