Fine Art color print.
Edition limited to 15 copies.
Each print is signed and numbered by photographer Jérémy Lempin.

Having traveled 5,693 km, Jérémy Lempin discovers and rediscovers France through a mythical race. With his van, he follows the 28 stages of the Tour de France. With his cameras and his notebook, he reflects all the joy, emotion and communion that the big loop represents, but also the questions and doubts about our society, shared by people who come to the edge of the roads.
To carry out this work, the photographer chose to use instant image cameras to formalize the ephemeral times, the fluidity and the speed of passage of the runners. The image that gradually appears on a white sheet freshly ejected by the device only acquires its final shape after five minutes. There is something regressive and magical in seeing the contours of the image form and its colors reveal themselves, like finally the appearance of the Tour de France cyclists who materialize very far in our field of vision, not very net, and which little by little take shape to become reality. The instant and the instantaneous image, the very short distance between subject and device as well as between supporters and runners, the revelation of the image as a metaphor of surprise and lightness, all these similarities contribute to his technical choice.

Jérémy Lempin

France  • 1983

Jérémy Lempin was born in 1983 in the north of France. Holder of a CAP in photography and a professional BAC in photography, this ch'timi passionate about photography multiplies the subjects of daily reports from an emergency firefighter to the closed group of ultras of the Racing Club de Lens or the intimacy of legionnaires of the prestigious 2nd REP (Foreign Parachute Regiment). He never ceases to "go and see", to compare looks to counter received ideas. His 4-year work "Aux Armes et Cætera" (2017-2021), on French soldiers suffering from Post Traumatic Stress and their families proves it, and offers him to be a finalist in 2021 of the MAP festival in Toulouse. .

Jérémy was fascinated by the photos of Robert Capa at a very young age and began his career in the French Navy (photographer aboard the Charles-de-Gaulle aircraft carrier to follow in his footsteps, then at the ECPAD (Communication and Production Establishment Audiovisual Department). He presents with humanity the living conditions of the crew at sea during operations Agapanthe off the coast of Afghanistan and Harmattan near the Libyan coast. On land, he participated in Operation Serval in Mali and the Sangaris operation in the Central African Republic Decorated for his bravery in fire with the military medal by the President of the Republic François Hollande, he documented for ten years the main battles led by the French army.

In 2016, he decided to put on his non-commissioned officer cap to fully endorse the photojournalist vest. He then satisfies his curiosity about everything and everyone, at the height of his passion for reporting. His method is a long-term work and if he succeeds in showing "different things", it is because his images are more akin to photographic documentary than just "taken from life" as "Doctor Peyo and Mister Hassen" - a report on a horse and its owner who intervene in palliative care in Calais to help people at the end of life - multi-awarded in 2021: Istanbul Photo Award, a Pictures of the Year International Award, a World Press Photo, the Visa d'Or Magazine and the first prize at the Lille transphotographic

The photographer regularly collaborates with many magazines and newspapers Le Figaro Magazine, Le Pèlerin, Répubblica, Aftenposten, L'Equipe Magazine, Le Parisien Week-End, Zadig, Guardian, L'Obs...
