Photographie Nus
Dans les années 1830, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce a mis au point une méthode pour imprimer des images sur des plaques métalliques. Après sa mort en 1833, Louis Daguerre et François Arago ont poursuivi ses recherches, aboutissant à l'invention du daguerréotype, un procédé permettant de capturer des images sur des plaques d'argent exposées à la lumière. Cette innovation a marqué la naissance de la photographie, transformant profondément la manière dont les images étaient créées et reproduites.
Contrairement à la peinture de nus, reconnue depuis longtemps comme une discipline artistique, la photographie de nus a d'abord eu une fonction scientifique et éducative. Les écoles d'art l'ont rapidement adoptée dans les cours d'anatomie, facilitant l'étude du corps humain. À Orsay, des photographies anciennes de nus ont été retrouvées avec des grilles tracées sur les corps, permettant aux artistes de mieux en étudier les proportions et de les reproduire avec précision dans leurs dessins et peintures.
Au début du XXe siècle, les magazines commencent à publier des photographies de nus, démocratisant ainsi le genre. Des publications comme L'Étude Académique diffusent des images artistiques de nus destinées à remplacer les modèles vivants en peinture et sculpture. À ses débuts, la photographie n'était pas considérée comme un art à part entière, mais plutôt comme un outil technique pour capturer la réalité. Malgré cela, l'essor de la photographie érotique était déjà en marche, avec l'apparition de premiers magazines spécialisés, malgré la censure.
Le nu masculin, moins représenté que le nu féminin, apparaît dans les œuvres de Albert Londe, Thomas Eakins et Vincenzo Galdi. Leurs photographies en extérieur illustrent des hommes sous forme de figures idéalisées, rappelant les éphèbes antiques. Dans les années 1930 et 1940, des photographes comme Man Ray, Jean Ferrero et Gregor Arax proposent une vision plus virile et sophistiquée du corps masculin, marquant ainsi une évolution artistique.
Aujourd'hui, la photographie de nu s'exprime sous des formes variées, allant bien au-delà de l'image érotique. Certains photographes contemporains explorent le corps humain à travers une approche conceptuelle et provocante. Jeff Koons joue avec la provocation sexuelle dans des scènes explicites, tandis que Spencer Tunick organise des installations de nus à grande échelle dans l'espace public. Joel-Peter Witkin s'inspire du grotesque et du surréalisme pour explorer la figure du nu. Parmi les maîtres de la photographie de nu, on retrouve Nan Goldin et ses portraits bruts et décadents, Nobuyoshi Araki, spécialiste du nu en noir et blanc, et Anders Petersen, qui capte des scènes intimes et émotionnelles. Robert Mapplethorpe s'impose comme une figure incontournable avec ses compositions minimalistes et ses nus en noir et blanc.
Dès 1970, la photographie de nu est pleinement acceptée comme un genre artistique, avec des magazines spécialisés dédiés au sujet. Aujourd'hui, Artsper met en avant des œuvres de Bert Stern, Ren Hang, Eric Ceccarini, Maurice Renoma, Dani Olivier et Laetitia Lesaffre, offrant une vaste sélection de photographies de nus artistiques pour les collectionneurs et amateurs d'art.

La représentation du nu dans l'art est une tradition ancienne ; la plus ancienne représentation connue d'une figure nue, une petite sculpture taillée dans une défense de mammouth laineux, remonte à 35 000 ans.
