Cedric Avril

France

Biography

Cedric Avril is a French artist, he lives and works in Paris.

Cedric Avril's style is based on Pop art, the artist adores the philosophy of this movement. Besides his monumental work, Warhol indeed understood one thing: art isn't separate from the concept of value. One doesn't admire the work but its value. The market has destroyed the concept of art, which is now excessively consumed, as if it were an investment.

In the same lines as Warhol and his work on the society of consumption, Cedric Avril produces works which make the spectator question, and make him look like a consumer-citizen, dazed by the society where buying seems to be the ideal concept. Constantly taken in by advertisements, a society where information is all around, the individual gives into compulsive consumption, and turns into a slave of the system where one can question the effects.
