James Rielly grew up in Wales, Ireland and London.
He carried out several artist residencies among which Fine Arts
Work Center in Provincetown in the United States in 1984-85, at the Künstlerhaus
Bethanien in Berlin in 1988-89 and at The Momart Fellowship in Liverpool
Tate Gallery in 1995. In 1997, defended by the Timothy Taylor Gallery and
Nathalie Obadia gallery, he participates in the Sensation exhibition,
Saatchi Collection at the Royal Academy in London. In 2014, he was exhibited at
Center Pompidou as part of the exhibition Donation Florence &
Daniel Guerlain. In 2015, he exhibited his works of paper at the Beaux-Arts
from Paris
In 2017, he exhibited in Madrid at the Galerie Herrero de
Tejada. In 2018, he exhibited his new works at the Monteverita gallery
in Paris.
James Rielly has been a professor in the artistic practices department at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris since 2006.
