Lilit Mnatsakanyan

Lilit Mnatsakanyan is a multidisciplinary visual artist specializing in painting. Her art objects create new perspectives by extending the traditional boundaries of the canvas with metallic and wood constructions. These materials offer a tactile and dimensional quality, allowing the artist to literally and metaphorically push the limits of two-dimensional art.

Lilit Mnatsakanyan uses geometry to express the physical and psychological aspects of the contemporary cityscape. Lilith’s work oscillates between abstraction and recognizable imagery, employing bright colors to depict objects, people, and city life. Modern elements such as phones, screens, wires, drones, and cameras seamlessly integrate into her artwork, functioning as conduits for visual trickery like frame-in-frame and picture-in-picture techniques.

Shapes, contrasted with constructions that break the flatness of the canvas, elevate the forms on Lilit’s flattened canvases or seamlessly integrate into architectural spaces beyond mere form. This conjures the streets, structures, pipelines, and apartment blocks of 21st-century life, connecting us as viewers to the realities of our isolated modular existence.
