About twenty years ago, after a brief stint in an art school, I discovered a great interest in drawing. My curiosity? for the graphics field has grown from year to year. This gave me? want to explore different topics and techniques. My influences come from comics, illustration and quite simply from the things that surround us. I would rather say that I am a self-taught. I play with colors, under human portraits. Mixing cultures and famous people, my paintings seem to immortalize time. Painting is a certain exploration of the unknown which suddenly becomes life ... Michel van Otten is spontaneous realism, often defined as a momentary impulse without conscious reflection, all spiced up with colors dazzling. Color in itself, one of the seven contrasts, needs pure and luminous colors, and Michel uses them with vigor and mastery to give birth to his pictorial creations. Like his contemporaries, you will find similarities in his art to the work of the Austrian Voka. Each of Michel's paintings is an impulsive challenge that begins with an initial idea and only ends with the final brushstroke.
