Gwendoline Hausermann
Belgium • 1978
Presentation
Gwendoline Hausermann likes family portraits, hurdy-gurdies photos and the retro atmospheres. She uses ink on pupils' waste papers to keep the spirit of the past.
"Draw straight on the "past" or redraw it: rewrite something of our memories.
The drawing opens a space which feeds from the continuous time: he rests or slides, in the course of my thoughts, in the course of my fears, in the course of my desires, it goes through fingers and I trace as I try, with some ink, some oil, or a pencil.
Bit by bit, with to these "genesis-drawings", I weave visual links as others would edit a movie. My dreamed images, imagined, play in the middle of daily, or charmingly, commonplace scenes.
My exercise books become then photo albums which follow me as time goes by. They are the witnesses of my life. "
Born in Geneva in 1978, Gwendoline studied when she was a teenager the academic drawing in the ENSAD in the studio of Mr Ernst. She then settled in Brussels where she studied at the Royal Academy of Arts of Brussels and at the ISLAP.
She is art-thérapist and the founder and administrator of the Belgian Association of Art Therapy.
Gwendoline Hausermann lives in Belgium and works in Belgium, France and Portugal.
