Presentation

Tao Mao is a Chinese artist born in 1987. He lives and work in Paris since 2011.

After studying at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam, the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris – under the wing of French artist Jean-Luc Vilmouth – he took wing and offers a conceptual approach giving emotions the materiality he imagines for them. He also likes experiences and uses science in his creative process as a mean to transform the rational into reverie. Mao Tao addresses unexpected subjects with humor.

His work is an ode to life and his instantaneity, inspired by everything that builds our everyday life. His strength is to know where to find poetry, and sometimes even solace. Whether it is through memories or current experiences, he invites the spectator to apprehend small details with the same fascination as him.
