Movement : Space Art Artist, New Ink...

Tu Shaohui, Chinese artist, born in 1977, graduated from the School of Traditional Chinese Painting of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, currently teaches at the School of Fine Arts of Shandong Normal University, associate professor, graduate supervisor, researcher of the Fine Brushwork Academy of The Chinese National Academy of Arts, and specially invited artist of the China Cultural Relics Protection Foundation. He has won the highest prize of the National Youth Art Exhibition, held solo exhibition and seminar in Today Art Museum, and is the subject leader of the national Art Fund art project "Chang 'e Flying to The Moon - Chinese Lunar Exploration".


Tu has held solo exhibitions or participated in group shows in Beijing, Shanghai, Washington, New York and other places, highly praised by top art experts and critics. His artworks are collected by The National Art Museum of China, Shenzhen Guan Shanyue Art Museum, Ningbo Art Museum, Zhangjiagang Art Museum, Xinjiang Art College Art Museum and other institutions.


On the stage of Chinese contemporary painters, Tu Shaohui undoubtedly plays an important role, whose importance is mainly in the expansion of Chinese painting creation themes and exploration of Chinese painting expression forms. He breaks through hundreds of years of the practice of Chinese flower-and-bird painting, explores a unique path, and opens up a new exploration direction for Chinese ink painting.


Tu's obsession with astronomical technology is reminiscent of leonardo Da Vinci, his starry sky series are full of oriental aesthetic temperament, mysterious, distant but concrete, opened up a new theme of Chinese painting. Inspired by the ancient wisdom of the universe, he introduces astronomical science into creation, rises thoughts about modern philosophizing and hidden relationships between human & nature… provides valuable exploration direction for the development of Chinese contemporary Gongbi painting.


A few years ago, a fire destroyed a large number of works in Tu Shaohui's studio located in the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, but this disaster gave him a precious opportunity to think quietly, some questions about art ecology were finally answered, which became an opportunity for him to move towards a wider space for cultural thinking and artistic expression.
