Biography
By installing the canvas or paper, I strongly feel the physical presence of the weave of the canvas, its weft, the linen or cotton or the grain of the paper. I imagine, physically, the hand that made it. I then touch the materials and look at them. I see the grip of the materials or the paints on their surfaces, the crossings and the overlappings which will take place, the effect of the drips or the scratches of the pencil. They are familiar to me.
I experience the impact the flows will have, the masses deposited with a knife or other instruments or objects, the mixed textures, the smells too. I BORROW, I am an heiress, I INVENT, I create new forms. I paint, I paste, I scratch, I transform. My “prints" are there waiting to join with others, with metals, with fabrics, with multiple supports. And I LET MYSELF BE SURPRISED. This is why I like to work in series. The work results from a discovery, something new. It presents itself as a “variant" and then opens up the field of possibilities. The universe is enormous and ephemeral, in fact and by nature. It will turn into something else the next day...
