Biography
Passionate about the earth, inspired by the sea, I have been a raku art ceramist since October 2017.
Creating a piece, blending your emotions and creativity into it is much easier than talking about yourself. We can't cheat with the earth, it reveals us and soaks up our mood. I love this complicity which makes each piece unique, due to its shape and its cooking.
A nod to my family history (4 generations of shipowners and fishmongers who developed the sea trade in Aber-Wrac'h), my breeding ground for creations is an ocean populated with fish, octopuses, tails of whales, shells, mooring buoys, totems... sensitive and powerful ceramics, like Finistère!
I tame the earth through modeling and filming. I enjoy letting the shapes evolve and appear between a game of chance and balance. Experimenting with pen or over enamelling, under or over firing, the superposition of enamels, searching for new alchemies motivates me in the discovery of original effects. I love the magic of raku, “happiness in chance". The incandescent parts are smoked and then suffer a significant thermal shock.
The magic of raku operates, fire, smoke and raku singing. The enamel cracks and the carbon penetrates into these cracks, creating a random pattern of cracks. Unique pieces marked with a freedom which shows that nature always imposes its presence. The exits from the oven are a moment of wonder, deliverance and encounter. A joy to discover the transformations and the outcome of his work.
