Jacques Hurel now lives in between Paris, Tangiers and Rio
1978 - studied at the Beaux Arts in Paris
1984 - created the jewel company Jacques Hurel
2000 - created the Strass & Partners company with Swarovski
2005 - traveled the world in search of new inspiration
2009 - created the company Barradas at Rio de Janeiro - Venetian mirrors
2015 - started creating "parures" for interiors
2018 - presents his first "parures" for interior collection
Haute Couture is the refined universe Jacques grew up with, and he is living up to the legacy of the maison Hurel which was founded 4 generations ago by his great grandmother and specialised in embroidery and fabrics for the greatest fashion designers.
He started developing his artistic skills and creativity when he founded the Jacques Hurel company in the mid-1980s. And for twenty years, he lived to the rythm of the "défilés" in his 1200-square-meter parisian atelier, along 70 employees from all fashion professions, designing and creating jewellry for famous customers such as Christian Lacroix, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Givenchy, Lanvin... Jacques Hurel became an indispensable company in the elite haute couture world.
Today, he works with the same energy and passion as an interior designer and imagines modern yet timeless pieces. His inspiration is nourished by the universe of the jewellry he used to create but his skill and experience are dedicated to another type of jewels : magnificient luxury mirrors made with noble materials.
I have always thought of fashion accessories as absolute essentials. It was the philosophy behind the countless pieces I imagined in my parisian atelier for dozens of couture designers. All those years, I kept viewing jewellry as the ultimate detail which had the power to enhance a woman’s style.
I had been thinking about transposing this philosophy, as well as my inspiration and skill, to interior design for a long time. Today it has become reality and I am proud to present my first interior decoration collection :
six jewel-like mirrors (and a gigantic pin parure).
