Sarah Jérôme

Born in 1979 in Rennes, France, Sarah Jérôme lives and works in Montreuil. Graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse de Paris in 1998, she spent some time at the Opéra National de Lyon, then turned to the plastic arts and studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris.

Sarah Jérôme's work is a mix of seduction and repulsion, astonishment and fear, dream and nightmare, delicacy and brutality. She explores a space between two, two states, two feelings, two moments. There is in all her works an irreducible ambiguity that sensitizes the viewer to a non-Manichean vision of the world, lined on the contrary with gray areas of disturbing attraction. At daybreak or at nightfall, when the soul hesitates between doubt and hope, Sarah Jérôme enjoins us to snuff out the flashes of light lurking in every corner of shadow. An aesthetics of dissonance that translates into images that are both intense and vulnerable to twilight beauty.

His works are notably in the collections of the Artothèque d'Annecy, Art collector (Evelyne and Jacques Deret) and the Rodin Museum Paris.
