Biography

Travis Durden is a pseudonym, since the Parisian artist hiding behind it would prefer his art to be the focal centre whereas him.

Born in 1975, Travis Durden has always been fascinated by the construction of myths and idols.

In his creation, he decides to question the way we are capable, as human beings, to determine what will be from popular culture, raised to the level of a divine cult, and how history influences us in our decisions.

Travis Durden examines the similarities among the cult objects of different periods. The idea of combining the contemporary culture with representations from the Renaissance era and classical subjects came to him while he was sitting at a public conference at the famous Ecole du Louvre.

He then realized to which point in our society entire collections are been digitized or were digitized. The emotional impact of these pieces is reduced: they now only represent a small part of an endless gallery, and eventually fall into oblivion.

To gather classical art, ancient culture and modern culture is way for Travis Durden to contribute to the preservation of ancient, his art is mainly an invitation to go back and to rediscover the work of our ancestors.
