Amandine Maria

Born in 1980 in Le Mans, Amandine Maria lives and works in Vitrolles. She graduated in Fine Arts and Art Sciences from the University of Aix-en-Provence, but also from the National Landscape School of Versailles. Very sensitive to landscapes and gardens, she initially designs installations that she presents outdoors. Deepening her artistic practice through a deep reading of the landscape and a study of the landscaper's tools, she works on a form of sensitive mapping of the territory that she presents in many places of contemporary art. She sees the landscape no differently than on foot.

The landscape is never fixed, it is a dance that occurs before our eyes every time we move. Walking allows you to observe that the places open and unfold like surprising fans. Slowly, the elements unroll, rotate, touch each other or move away depending on the walker's point of view. The map, with its two-dimensional representation, makes it possible to represent the landscape as it opened. Everything is flattened and drawn from the point of view of a lived experience. The “walking” maps that she offers are all returns from walks and tell the story of human nature.
