Presentation

Born in 1972 in the Paris region, in Val-de-Marne, Marie-Laure Souq left Ile-de-France for Auvergne where she grew up.

It was with her father, painter in his spare time and who was inspired by the Parisian “Poulbots” painted by Michel Thomas, that she was introduced to drawing, then to painting: the smell of oils would never leave her.

Back in Paris, this painting enthusiast took evening classes at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, but fate led her to other horizons and her family life soon took over. But a few years ago, she decided to devote herself entirely to her passion and moved to Brittany in Morbihan, after falling in love with this region.

It was then that she began to paint the surroundings of the seaside and the half-timbered houses, but she did not forget Paris and its innumerable recesses: nostalgia led her to add life to it by painting a woman in yellow "because she radiates and illuminates my backdrops", which will become the characteristic of her work. For her, she represents "THE" woman in general, free, carefree and nonchalant: "Passionate about fashion too, painting allows me to imagine and create outfits that I like to make light and which give life to my paintings."
