Patrick Artinian was born in 1960 in Martigues.
He began his photographic career in 1985 as a regular contributor to the daily 'Liberation'.
He covered French, mainly political, and international news such as the Armenian earthquake (1989), the Romanian revolution (1989), the tragic situation in Sudan (1991), the Kurdish refugees in Turkey (1991), famine in Somalia (1992) or civil war in the former Yugoslavia (1991-1993).
In 1995, he joined the agency 'Contact Press Images' and then produced a whole documentary work, still in progress, on the United States of America.
He is a regular contributor to the team, Le Monde and VSD.
Since 2008, he has produced portfolios on France for Médiapart.
