Justine de Meerschman

Attracted by several art forms since childhood, Justine de Meerschman turned to painting, notably discovering the famous painting "The Opera Orchestra" by Edgar Degas immersing her in the heart of the stage. Over the years, the Artist has perfected his drawing and oil painting techniques, similar to the expressionist movement, playing with colors, contrasts and matter. This is how Justine de Meerschman offers in painting works which are most often figurative or semi-figurative, more particularly emphasizing landscapes or scenes from everyday life.

Justine de Meerschman draws her inspiration from these scenes of everyday life which make her experience strong emotions, in particular those of Parisian nightlife. The Artist's models are expressionist but also impressionist pioneer artists, who awakened him to light and in particular the color affixed to a canvas, made vivid by the small jerky brush strokes.

In 2013, the few art history courses at the school made Justine de Meerschman rediscover painters committed to pictorial messages that were sometimes demanding, such as Manet and his "Olympia", Klimt and his emancipated women, or Van Gogh and his "Potato eaters" highlighting the proletariat of the time. These courses help him no longer take a purely aesthetic eye to art: the latter also serves to promote his ideas, denounce or depict a societal context.

Today passionate self-taught, the subjects linked to her paintings tend more and more to represent the nightlife and Parisian life.
