Presentation

Moo Chew Wong was born in Malaysia. Dreaming of the sacred heart landscapes of Maurice Utrillo's paintings, he arrived in France in 1967 as a scholarship holder of the French government. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Professor of engraving at the Villa Arson in Nice, he lives and works in Paris.

Painter and engraver, Moo Chew Wong made his own this sentence of Montaigne: "I do not paint the being, I paint the passage".

His pictorial talent attracted the attention of many museums. His works can be seen at the MAMCO in Geneva. He won the Epinal gold medal which allowed him to spread his engravings in more than 35 museums in the world. His works are present in dozens of public collections such as the BNF or the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.

In 2009, for his accomplished work, Moo Chew received the insignia of Chevalier des arts et des lettres.

Neither object nor subject, Wong's motif is rather the journey. Thus, he engraves almost daily the life of the rue des Abbesses that he perceives from his window.
