Biography
Gabriel Sommer presents us with his rough, dazzling, seemingly serial drawings and pictures. His precise, almost playful, sometimes wildly colored sketches are reminiscent of neo-expressionist artists. Gabriel's radical turn to experience the now allows his faces and masks to emerge anytime, anywhere. They can be found on inverted vegetable boxes, wooden boards, on the backs of canvases, endless rolls of paper, countless sketchpads of all formats and look deep into our eyes as mysteriously lost and sad strangers. Always ready, always there, colored, black, white and beautiful. In ambivalence to this, series of abstract colored pictures from another world are created again and again. Art is a game with the colors of life.
