Stefan Schift

Stefan Schift is a German artist born in 1967 in Bühl / Baden and currently living in Freiburg. From an early age, he showed a great interest in art and demonstrated a real artistic sensitivity. This led him to practice photography and music. It was in 2000 that he made his first pictorial experiments and then discovered “the liberating force” of his creativity; but it is really since 2007 that he has devoted himself entirely to painting. Since 2009, his paintings have been presented in numerous exhibitions, whether in cafes, restaurants, hotels, hospitals or town halls in Germany and France. He works with acrylic on canvas or cardboard, on large and small formats, using a lot of colors. His fascination with the act of creation stems from his desire to use his "surge of positive energy", "to paint images in a very personal style and to produce expressive and dynamic atmospheres". According to Stefan Schift, figurative paintings are drawn from pencil sketches or photographs and are characterized by a naïve lightness. On the other hand, his abstract paintings are born without conceptual submission, inspired by nature and the elements, they are the result of his intuition. Moreover, he deliberately gives up giving a title to his abstract works so that the observer can give free rein to his imagination.
