Biography

Daffke Hollstein is a German artist born in 1974. He studied photography in the beginning of the 90s, then moved to France in 1997. He then received painting classes. The artist dedicates completely to his two passions since 2005, when he moved to Berlin. A member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists of Berlin since 2008, he now shares his times between Berlin and Barcelona.

Daffke Hollstein works spontaneously and instinctively. Identity is one of his main subjects which he approaches through photography. His creations materialize the anxieties linked to the inconsistencies of our own identities, as well as those of our collective identities. Who we are? Where do we come from? Where are we going? So many questions that fascinates and interrogates the artist.
Daffke Hollstein uses several techniques and mediums in order to obtain the best outcome possible. He is an indefatigable curious and a hard worker, he constantly explores new methods and learns new techniques in order to enrinch his artistic abilities.

His work is regularly exhibited in Berlin and Barcelona, and is present in numerous private collections all around the world.
