Presentation

Jan Nederlof (1947) has been painting for years, but started full-time in 2003. He paints realistic still lifes of various subjects, including very beautiful flower still lives.

Jan paints hyper realistically on specially prepared panels. In his flower still lifes he wants to approach reality as much as possible. He succeeds in perfectly representing the tenderness of the flowers on the panel, often with a dark background for contrast.

Quote by Jan: "Hyperrealist painting, the visible reality as a starting point, the fascination for surface and material, composition and space, but especially love for the light, the caressing light, the marking and touching light that plays with transparency and reflection, that shines and breaks, the light of Rembrandt and Vermeer.
